Smoltz pulls up shorts (and socks), goes to work | Braves

About 10 feet away, if Smoltz had looked out of the corner of his eye, he might have caught Jo-Jo Reyes watching him closely as Smoltz, who's been in the majors since Reyes was 3, handled another interview as easily as he always does.

When Smoltz had answered all the questions, he had also finished dressing for what would be his first throwing session off a mound in four months, since the season ended.

He walked across the clubhouse toward the indoor batting cage wearing those blue shorts, which, to begin with, he wears an inch or two higher on the waist than Reyes and most Braves wear them.

Most others taking part in this camp do so in loose, untucked T-shirts of all varieties, and short socks that either barely rise above their shoetops or stop below the calf.

NIU Gunman's Contradictions Baffle Police

MADISON, Wis. (CBS) ― Steven Kazmierczak had the look of a boyish graduate student - except for the disturbing tattoos that covered his arms. Professors and students knew him as a bright, helpful scholar, but his past included a stint in a mental health center. Many saw him as happy and stable, but he had developed a recent interest in guns and was involved in a troubled - possibly abusive - on-again, off-again relationship. What people initially told police about the Northern Illinois University shooter didn't add up, and now investigators are searching for answers to what triggered Thursday's bloody attack, in which five students were killed and several more injured before Kazmierczak committed suicide. While searching for a motive, authorities questioned family and friends and tried to determine whether he had recently broken up with his longtime girlfriend. One person who knew the couple, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity, said the couple's relationship was on-again, off-again and "really rocky." Kazmierczak was controlling, she said."He was abusive, had a temper," she said.

Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!

Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2.

“Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better."

Ddot the King hit me with that.

Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this:

“Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2."

LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.

Road Test Suzuki XL-7 Crossover Expands on GM Model

Over the past few years, Suzuki Motor Corp. has been putting its name on a host of vehicles that are manufactured by other auto makers.

Three of the seven models the Japanese auto maker sells in the U.S. are rebadged versions of vehicles made by Korea's GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., a General Motors Corp. unit. At the recent Chicago Auto Show, Suzuki unveiled a rebranded version of Nissan's Frontier pickup it plans to sell called the Equator that will be built at Nissan's Tennessee plant and reach the market late this year.

The 2008 XL-7, which is the largest and most expensive model the company sells in the U.S., is a re-engineered version of the Chevrolet Equinox. But, Suzuki did more than just add a handsomely restyled front end. The XL-7 is nearly 10 inches longer than its American cousin, and has an available third row.
