PORT ST. LUCIE - The housekeeper did it, according to Port St.Lucie Police. SpringHill Suites employee Myranda A. Byrd, 34, of Fort Pierce, Fla., has been arrested and charged with grand theft in the disappearance of $275,000 worth of jewelry from a hotel room where Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos was staying, officer Robert Vega announced. Burgos has recovered all but five items, which he valued at between $10,000 and $20,000. According to police, Byrd confessed that she took the jewelry while cleaning a room Burgos occupied. The reliever, who is recovering from Tommy John elbow surgery, had accidentally left the items behind in a black bag when he switched hotel rooms. MISSING METS: David Wright will miss camp Sunday and Monday to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Helen Wright, in Norfolk, Va.

Ribeiro Carries Stars Past Predators
Mike Ribeiro had two goals and two assists and the Dallas Stars beat the Nashville Predators 6-3 on Saturday night. Family trying to cope with tragedy
She not only suffered third-degree burns over nearly half of her body, but her husband, Howard Emmitt, 25, and elder son,12-year-old Cadarian Herd, died. Tears rolled down her face as she recalled the tragedy. "I thought it was a dream," Emmitt said. "I tried to close my eyes and wake up. But it wasn't." After spending almost four months in the burn unit at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Emmitt is living with her two surviving children in her mother's small two-bedroom south Houston apartment. "I'm blessed that the Lord spared my life so I could take care of my two children," Emmitt said. Ciara Herd, 9, and Howard Emmitt Jr., 3, survived the fire, but the little boy suffered burns on his hand. "But it's hard, it's really hard." The most difficult part of coming home from the hospital was wondering how her children would react to her appearance, Emmitt said.
