What's in store at Milton Keynes?

Next sees the arrival of three romantic and charming world-class operas as Welsh National Opera presents the dreamlike classic The Magic Flute to Mozart's instantly recognisable score, a beautiful and traditional production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin full of drama and suspense, and Verdi's wonderfully witty Falstaff which has not been performed since 1993 (April 1 to 5). Passionate and sultry, dark and thrilling - the legendary story of swashbuckling hero Zorro will soon be brought to life on stage by an award-winning creative team in a brand new musical (April 8 to 12). A gripping tale of good versus evil, full of sword fighting action, adventure, colour and romance, this fast-moving musical is ready to set the stage alight. Direct from a sell-out run in the West End, Sadler's Wells and Congas Productions present Havana Rakatan (April 17 to 20), a dazzling dance spectacular bringing all the passion and heat of a Cuban summer to Milton Keynes.

Bush speech focuses on slumping economy

He promised to push ahead on helping to achieve a Middle East peace pact. And he said he'll "confront" Iran if necessary to protect U.S. troops and the country's interests in the Persian Gulf.

Bush, who announced this year's trilateral meeting with Canada and Mexico will be held in New Orleans in April, committed $2 billion to a new global fund for clean energy alternatives and insisted the United States wants to work toward an international climate change deal.

But he continued to insist it must include commitments "by every major economy and give none a free ride.""

There were no new high-profile initiatives as Bush's presidency winds down and the focus shifts to the intense presidential race that will determine who will take his place, a change that can't come soon enough for some.

MY CHRISTMAS STORY

As soon as you got comfortable enough to hang up your clothes, or to sit at the breakfast table, you were gone. Lillian sheltered Jacob for these reasons, seeking out the best candidates possible for the boy. Two days before the Petersons were to take Jacob home, Mrs. Peterson got a call from the doctor. Her cries of rejoice were heard throughout the house. Anne immediately called Lillian Hoback. Lillan was surprised to hear the tearful Mrs. Peterson on the other end of the phone. Jacob's case worker was visibly shaken when she hung up the receiver. With tears in her eyes she glanced at the Christmas tree, Mrs. Peterson's words resounding in her ear, "Miss Hoback, isn’t it wonderful? Now Jacob will have a little brother or sister!" Beefeater revamp lifts Whitbread

Leisure group Whitbread said its Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants have seen sales pick up despite an uncertain consumer outlook.

The two chains' like-for-like sales of 0.8% for the 50 weeks to February 14 compared with the 0.4% reported in November.

Whitbread, which has spent £45 million on an overhaul of its 129 Beefeaters, said it was gaining higher margins across its restaurants.

The group's overall trading was spearheaded by its Premier Inn hotel chain, which enjoyed comparative sales growth of 10.5% over the period.

The company, which also saw strong sales growth from its Costa Coffee chain, saw overall like-for-likes increase 5.7%. Shares rose almost 7% as investors welcomed the update.

Chief executive Alan Parker said: "These results show that trading in our businesses has been resilient and we continue to perform well."

Panmure Gordon analyst Douglas Jack held out hopes of more to come from the restaurant business following Whitbread's "strong" update.

Hip-Hop Rumors: We Don't Need No Rumors Today!

I would like to quickly clarify what happened at the Kanye West show in California. Actually, it was a Common show that Kanye popped up on. Last week I said that Kanye dissed the Grammys. Well, it wasn't at the Anaheim show like I said. This apparently occurred at the Hollywood show at the House of Blues. I wasn't there so I didn't hear it or anything. Also, I heard that in a third verse freestyle, Kanye said “I beat 50."
Thanks a lot, Peter!! (See the pics down below)

EMINEM RUMORS FALSE

There was another crappy Eminem rumor coming out that the Detroit rapper was going to be wrestling in the WWE. Shame on you if you believed that one. It was refuted faster than any other rumor in the history of man.

After surgery, Ray aims for August return

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Reports that Chris Ray will miss the 2008 season apparently haven't reached the Orioles' closer. He's working on a different timetable.

Ray will begin his throwing program today by doing some light tossing, another indication that he's on schedule in his recovery from ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow. Ray had the procedure Aug. 16 and expects to be pitching again by his one-year anniversary.

"It's around four months or so of the throwing program, and hopefully, if everything goes well and there are no setbacks, I see myself back up there in August," he said.

Kleiza, Najera remain Nuggets

At the Pepsi Center on Thursday, the Nuggets' diamond-encrusted watches simultaneously ticked 1 p.m., and there stood Linas Kleiza on the practice court, his gym bag packed for tonight's Nuggets game at Chicago.

"I'm still here, baby," Kleiza said, as the NBA trade deadline passed.

The Nuggets decided not to trade the 23-year-old for Sacramento's Ron Artest, opting instead to make one minor trade, shipping seldom-used guard Von Wafer to Portland for seldom-used guard Taurean Green.

Multiple sources close to the situation said the Kings would not trade Artest unless they received Kleiza. The decision not to acquire Artest, much debated by Nuggets fans, came with multiple explanations from the team. For one, Denver would have .
